By using our website, requesting a quotation, placing an order, or purchasing products from Scytale, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.

If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use our services or purchase products from Scytale.

2. Products and Services

Scytale specialises in the sale and supply of engine cylinder pistons and related automotive components.

Product information, photographs, specifications, descriptions, dimensions, availability, and pricing may be subject to change without notice.

While Scytale makes reasonable efforts to ensure that product information is accurate, customers should confirm that the selected product is suitable for their specific engine and application before placing an order.

3. Product Compatibility

Engine components are application-specific. It is the customer's responsibility to provide accurate information when requesting or purchasing a product.

Depending on the product, relevant information may include:

  • Vehicle make and model;
  • Engine make and model;
  • Engine code;
  • Engine capacity;
  • Year of manufacture;
  • Bore size;
  • Standard or oversize specification;
  • Piston diameter;
  • Compression height;
  • Piston pin diameter;
  • Ring specifications;
  • Manufacturer or part number; and
  • Other relevant engine specifications.

Scytale may assist customers in identifying suitable products based on the information provided. However, customers should verify all critical measurements and specifications with a suitably qualified engine builder, mechanic, machinist, or other competent professional before installation.

4. Quotes and Orders

A quotation provided by Scytale may be subject to product availability, supplier availability, pricing changes, and the validity period stated on the quotation.

An order will only be considered accepted once Scytale has confirmed the order and, where applicable, received the required payment.

Scytale reserves the right to decline or cancel an order where:

  • The requested product is unavailable;
  • Product information or pricing contains an obvious error;
  • The product has been discontinued;
  • The customer has provided insufficient or incorrect information;
  • The transaction cannot be successfully processed; or
  • There is another legitimate reason preventing Scytale from fulfilling the order.

Where an order is cancelled after payment has been received, Scytale will arrange an appropriate refund where required.

5. Pricing

All prices displayed or quoted by Scytale are subject to change.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, prices may exclude delivery, installation, machining, or other additional services.

Where applicable, taxes, duties, import charges, delivery charges, or other fees may be payable by the customer.

Scytale will communicate applicable charges as reasonably practicable before an order is finalised.

6. Payment

Payment must be made using the payment method accepted by Scytale.

Scytale may require payment in full before an order is dispatched, particularly for special-order, imported, or non-standard products.

An order will generally not be dispatched until the required payment has been successfully received and verified.

7. Delivery

Scytale may arrange delivery through third-party courier or logistics providers.

Delivery times provided by Scytale are estimates unless expressly confirmed otherwise.

Delivery may be affected by factors outside Scytale's reasonable control, including courier delays, weather, strikes, customs procedures, supplier delays, incorrect delivery information, or other unforeseen circumstances.

Customers are responsible for providing accurate delivery information.

8. Inspection on Delivery

Customers should inspect products as soon as reasonably possible after receiving them.

If a product appears damaged, incorrect, or incomplete, the customer should contact Scytale promptly at:

Telephone: 021 657 5757
Email: support.scytale@gmail.com

Customers may be asked to provide photographs, packaging information, order details, and other information necessary to investigate the issue.

9. Installation and Use of Products

Scytale supplies engine components but does not automatically provide installation or engine-building services.

Pistons and related components should be installed by a suitably qualified and experienced professional.

Incorrect installation, incorrect machining, incorrect clearances, improper fitting, unsuitable engine specifications, overheating, detonation, inadequate lubrication, contamination, misuse, or other improper operating conditions may cause component failure.

Scytale cannot accept responsibility for damage caused by incorrect installation, machining, assembly, or use outside the manufacturer's intended specifications.

Customers should follow the relevant manufacturer's installation instructions and specifications.

10. Returns, Refunds and Exchanges

Returns, refunds, and exchanges are subject to Scytale's Returns & Refunds Policy, together with any rights available to customers under applicable South African law.

Products that have been installed, modified, machined, damaged, or otherwise altered may not qualify for a change-of-mind return.

Special-order, custom, modified, or non-standard products may also be subject to specific return conditions.

Customers should contact Scytale before returning a product.

11. Defective Products and Warranties

Where a product is believed to be defective, customers should contact Scytale as soon as reasonably possible.

Scytale may require the product to be returned for inspection, testing, or assessment.

Where a defect is confirmed and the customer is entitled to a remedy under applicable law or an applicable manufacturer's warranty, Scytale will provide the appropriate remedy.

A product failure does not automatically constitute a manufacturing defect. Scytale may consider factors including installation, machining, engine condition, operating conditions, clearances, lubrication, overheating, detonation, and other relevant circumstances when assessing a claim.

12. Manufacturer Warranties

Where a product is supplied with a manufacturer's warranty, the manufacturer's warranty terms may apply.

Scytale will assist customers with warranty claims where reasonably possible, but the final determination of a manufacturer's warranty claim may depend on the relevant manufacturer's assessment and warranty conditions.

13. Customer Responsibilities

Customers agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information when placing orders;
  • Verify product specifications before installation;
  • Use products only for their intended purpose;
  • Follow applicable manufacturer installation instructions;

Product names, trademarks, logos, and manufacturer information belonging to third parties remain the property of their respective owners.

16. Third-Party Suppliers and Services

Scytale may rely on third-party suppliers, manufacturers, couriers, payment providers, website providers, and other service providers.

Scytale will take reasonable steps to work with reputable service providers but cannot guarantee that third-party services will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Scytale will not be responsible for losses or damage resulting from:

  • Incorrect product selection based on inaccurate information supplied by a customer;
  • Incorrect installation or machining;
  • Improper use or modification of products;
  • Failure to follow manufacturer instructions;
  • Normal wear and tear;
  • Engine or vehicle conditions unrelated to a manufacturing defect;
  • Delays caused by third parties;
  • Events outside Scytale's reasonable control; or
  • Unauthorised use of Scytale's website or services.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any liability or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under South African law.

18. Consumer Protection

Nothing in these Terms of Service is intended to remove, restrict, or limit any rights that a consumer may have under applicable South African legislation, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, where applicable.

Where these Terms conflict with a mandatory legal requirement, the applicable law will take precedence.

19. Privacy

By using Scytale's services, you acknowledge that your personal information may be processed for legitimate business purposes, including order processing, payment, delivery, customer support, returns, warranties, and legal compliance.

20. Force Majeure

Scytale will not be responsible for failure or delay in performing its obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

Such circumstances may include natural disasters, fires, floods, strikes, civil unrest, government restrictions, supply-chain disruptions, transportation disruptions, telecommunications failures, power outages, cyber incidents, or other unforeseen events.

21. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Any disputes will be dealt with in accordance with applicable South African law and the jurisdiction of the appropriate South African courts or other applicable dispute-resolution bodies.

22. Changes to These Terms

Scytale may update these Terms of Service from time to time to reflect changes to our business, products, services, or applicable legal requirements.

The latest version will be made available through our website or other appropriate customer-facing channels.

Continued use of Scytale's services after updated Terms have been published may constitute acceptance of the updated Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
